England’s Test Summer
England are just 2/9 for a 2-0 series whitewash of Bangladesh as cricket’s Test summer gets underway today.
Despite noticeable improvements being made by the Bangladesh team since their last tour of England Paddy Power still anticipate the series being a runfest for the home side and are betting on who will score a ton in England’s first innings at Lords today. Kevin Pietersen is 11/4 to reach triple figures with openers Strauss and Cook both 10/3.
Eoin Morgan, set to make his Test debut following a starring role in England’s World Cup winning T20 performance, is 5/1 to make a century in the first innings on his home ground.
Paddy Power are also betting on who scores the most Test runs for England over the six matches to be played against Bangladesh and Pakistan. Kevin Pietersen is the 13/8 favourite to continue his Caribbean form followed by returning captain Andrew Strauss at 5/2. Having been rested for the first two Tests of the summer versus Bangladesh Paul Collingwood is out at 33/1.
Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “At 50/1 ON for a series win no pundits are going to score points predicting an England victory so the question is who is going to knock up the most runs and a rejuvenated Kevin Pietersen looks well set to do that.”
